Pit Bulls have been getting a bad rep since the beginning of time. Recently, a video was posted telling viewers to not adopt pit bulls, and there are rumors that pits are going to be banned from the U.S.Here's what I have to say being an owner of a pit...
1. They are beautiful. Seriously, you can't look at a pit bulls face and not think it's adorable.
2. They have soooo much skin. You know when a dog is a puppy and they have all that extra skin they are supposed to grow into? Nine times out of ten pits aren't going to grow into that. This makes them great potential for cuddlers.
3. Speaking of cuddling, they truly are the best at it. My pit will put his head down, nudge into you and then put his whole body on you. You literally don't want to move because it is the cutest thing ever.
4. They are extremely loyal. Your pit will not leave your side. They need you as much as you need them. They love to follow.
5. Anytime they do something bad, it is still adorable. Say, getting into the trash, which most dogs do, they'll give you those big eyes or put their heads down in sadness and you can't help but shower them in kisses and forget why you were upset in the first place.
6. They are very photogenic. I don't think there is a single picture of my pit that doesn't atomically deploy the reaction "awww".
7. They are good at "defending". My pit will bark like crazy if someone arrives, or if there's a squirrel too close. If it is a person, he will run up to them, jump on them and give them so many kisses and attention.
8. If they are a mixed breed, that makes them even cuter. My pit is mixed with Beagle and it is the cutest thing in the world.
The "bully" breed of dogs are mischaracterized all the time. The name refers to their ancestors because they were big boned, hefty dogs. Pit bulls and all dogs in this category can be the most loving, affectionate, loyal dogs out there.
They get along so well with other dogs and animals and they are known for being good with children. I am a firm believer that it is how you raise these dogs, just like any other pet.
