I'm going to just quickly start off by telling you that photography is and has been my life and how it has helped me with basic life skills. All my friends say I am loud and outgoing, but photography has shown me that I am actually a very shy person.
Photography has always played a big part in my life for as long as I can remember - it has gotten me through so of my hardest times in life. I have come home some nights in the worst possible mood ever, and I go and get my camera and take a walk and it's like all my problems are gone. There is just so much more a camera lens can see compared to the eye. I love photography so much I have recently started my own photography business and I absolutely love it!
There so many more things that go on behind photography that some people could never imagine doing! You have to book the appointments, you have to go to the sessions, and sometimes you have no idea how the family is going to react or how the dogs are going to act. There is a huge process of editing and deadlines and things like that you have to meet for the client's needs.
So, here I am, going to explain to you a couple of my crazy adventures along my journey so far! I was doing a photo session for one of my really good friends for Christmas cards, and she said she was bringing her dogs! I was very okay with her bringing the dogs, because who doesn't love cute puppies? It was just a great time and good experience for me as I have never done a photo shoot with dogs and I didn't know what I was going to be getting into... Let me tell you; every time I could get one good photo, one of the dogs would turn the other way! With that being said, dog treats were my absolute best friend that day!
Not only do you have to work with dogs, but you have to do photo shoots that involve something very similar to them... CHILDREN! Let me just tell you my experience with children recently: I quickly learned you don't step between a girl and her chips! I was doing a family photo shoot and the middle child who is six would not let go of her chips for any photos! Her mom then says "That's okay, it just shows how crazy our family really is," so I just kept on snapping their photos - chips and all! I did get one photo of the little girl by herself with the chip bag and I was able to crop and you can't even see the bag of chips!
This photography business has also helped me with getting over being shy around new people. Talking to new people has always scared me a little bit, let alone telling someone else what to do and how to stand, I have to say that i still get a little nervous telling people what to do. So, i guess you could say it's something i need to work on.
