To the person struggling to fight for yourself,
There are several things in life that hurt us, bother us, destroy us, affect our well being, and we act as if it never bothered us.
We wake up in the morning and we pick out an outfit. We tell ourselves that we are okay, and we put on our best face so that we can go out and conquer whatever may be coming next. But, the truth is? We’re not okay. Every small detail will eat us alive.
We ask ourselves if we are good enough. We ask ourselves why someone looked at us like that. We question even our best of friends as to whether they will leave us or not and we sit back and hear voices telling us how we are not enough. Some days you may feel like you can’t breathe and that everyone can see it but they can’t. The only thing they see is a smile, a laugh, you with the people you’re always around and the same daily routine.
That’s what anxiety/depression feels like. That’s what it is like to be broken down. That’s what it is like to watch the people that you love push themselves away from you because they want you to help yourself. These things can tear your world apart. It can make you feel useless, worthless, ugly, tired, and make you want to give up on everything you’ve ever dreamed of. It makes you want to lay in bed and never leave. Please don’t give up.
I want you to believe in yourself. I want you to know that no matter how hard some days are, no matter how many people don’t get it, no matter what happens next, that there is always someone there for you. There is someone that loves you, that wants to help you and wants to stand by you through every step of the way. Lean on them, it’s okay to need someone every now and then until you know that you’re okay. It’s okay to need help, it doesn’t mean you’re any less of a human being.
You are perfect. You are perfectly imperfect and that is what makes you amazing.
Everyone has a story. Some people don’t like to share the cracks and the darkest holes but we all have a story. We are all fighting a battle that no one knows anything about. But, as you fight your battle know someone loves you. Know that your person is out there. Your best friend is always there. Your family will always be there. But most importantly? God will always be there for you to lean on.
So to that person battling their deepest war, know that I’m praying for you. Know that you will be safe. Know that you’re not “crazy”. You are perfectly imperfect and through it all, someone will love you, every part of you. Someone will love you through it and there’s always someone there.
Sincerely,
A perfectly imperfect soul.
