Working at a movie theater can be extremely stressful and frustrating at times. Sometimes you have to deal with irate guests, broken theater projectors, thousands of people and cleaning theaters on a busy day as well as having to clean bathrooms. However, there are times where being a theater employee has its benefits.
One of the best things about working at a theater is the fact that you can see movies for free. I don't know what the policy is at other theaters, but at the theater where I work, we can watch movies playing there for free. They even screen films for us before we open them. We usually hold these events at night and make a big party out of it.
Sometimes, we even have other employees bring their game consoles and we get to play video games on the large theater screen. Imagine playing Mortal Kombat on a massive theater screen. We've even had several screenings where we were served food by catering companies. We also have parties in the theaters over holidays.
We usually have great parties surrounding Christmas and Halloween. We have a costume party for Halloween, and during this past Christmas, we had a large "Nerf war" in the theater. We even played Cards Against Humanity, which led to a lot of laughs. We also exchanged secret Santa gifts which helped us grow closer as employees.
It's moments like these that make working at a movie theater worth it. It also helps that we get discounts on the food and drinks too. Working at a movie theater has allowed me to see more films on the big screen rather than making a decision whether or not to see it when it comes out on home video.
This is the reason why I have been able to do more film reviews and discuss certain aspects of films recently. It's amazing how one job has actually improved my quality in another. Another great perk is that we give out some promotional material for certain movies and we get to keep some of them when the film is out of theaters like a poster or collectible coins.
I'm pointing these things out for anyone who has ever thought about becoming an employee at a movie theater. The work can be very tough and stressful, but the rewards you get for the work you give are worth it. It's little perks like these that make it worth going to work every day and doing your best. It's great when you get to have a fun bonus for all the work you do along with your payment. If you have the chance, work at a movie theater! Getting to watch movies on the big screen for free is worth it alone.
