Thanksgiving is not just for families coming together. It is for friends to reunite after not seeing each other in months. It is time to share your feelings of thanks for having such amazing friends be part of your life even though you do not go to the same school. It is time to tell your pet that you will be coming back to spend a whole month with them and that you still care about them. Thanksgiving is full of stories and memories that give us that extra push we all need to finish out the semester strong.
Thanksgiving has many aspects; here are a few of the things that make going home for Thanksgiving so great.
Family
Your mom, dad, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc... You are finally old enough to hear about stories from their college years. They have been waiting to share these stories with you for awhile and now is their chance. College was different back then and may inspire you to go on more shenanigans with your friends.
Siblings
They may have bothered you while you lived at home but now you have a greater appreciation for them with your time apart. Siblings are great and they will always be there for you. Remind them that even though you are away, they are still a big part of your life and that your sibling shenanigans may begin once again.
Pet
Do not forget about the furry friend that loves you unconditionally. Forgive them if they are slightly hesitant about your return - you did leave them.
Food
Growing up, our parents told us that Thanksgiving was about being thankful. That is still true. College students are thankful for the endless amounts of homemade food.
Black Friday
Sales on sales on sales
Christmas movies
Now that Thanksgiving has come the movies may begin. 25 Days of Christmas is the best time of the year.
Friendsgiving
It's been months, for some, since you were last together, but now you are reunited. No matter the time or the miles nothing has changed. Laughing, crying and everything in between is bound to happen when you all come together this Thanksgiving break.
Thanksgiving is when we are all thankful for a break. Classes are getting intense as finals are quickly approaching. Enjoy your family, they miss more than you may think. Eat all the food; your meal plan money and wallet are running low, so eat while you can. Exchange stories with your friends so that when you return for winter break you'll have more time to make new stories.
