You either love or hate the Kardashian/Jenner clan, there's no in between. The family has done some strange and shady things in the past that have had people wondering why they're even famous, but the latest reason why people are pissed at Kylie Jenner is actually a good one.
On December 7th, Kylie Cosmetics revealed their "third holiday surprise," after showing their brand new lipsticks and concealers: a 16 piece brush set! The brushes are a beautiful silver/chrome color with pure white bristles. It even comes with a convenient silver carrying case! The brushes look like any other bundle that makeup brands have to offer, such as Morphe or BH Cosmetics but there's one slight difference: Kylie's Silver Series brush set is retailing for $360.
You read correct. $360.
As soon as the price was revealed, everyone on the internet went absolutely crazy. Kylie's fans, makeup enthusiasts, and even famous beauty gurus such as Jeffree Star threw Kylie under the bus for her ridiculous price point and didn't understand why the celebrity was charging so much for the brushes. Kylie went on to tweet:
"I have developed for you guys the most amazing luxury brushes ever. I am very excited! Real brushes don't compare to synthetic brushes. Different performance/quality/everything. I am 100% down to do an entire synthetic line in the future which will ultimitaly be cheaper."
After trying out the brushes themselves, popular beauty gurus such as Manny MUA reviewed the brush set on YouTube in order to see if it was really worth the money. It wasn't. Manny says, "Does the brush set work? Yes, it totally does. It's a natural hair bristle, they blend and feel nice on the face, and I cannot deny that the products work well, but 16 brushes for $360 plus shipping and plus tax, holy sh*t that comes out to $400 for a brush set. I can't fathom that."
Long story short, people are upset that Kylie is charging so much money for brushes that can be bought for cheaper. Just because her name is on it, she feels as though people will buy it, and that's not fair. Personally, I love Kylie's Lip Kits and I even have an eyeshadow pallet of hers, but I would never spend this much money on makeup brushes even if they were made out of pure gold.
