James 1:4 – "but let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing."
Life is filled with so many things. Things that we desire, and things that we are waiting on. But things are just things. They cannot complete or pour into us as Christ can. Things such as money, cars, jewelry, a future, a job. All of these are just things. Things that only add to our earthly experience. They mean nothing in heaven.
According to God, the things that He desires for us and the things that we desire for ourselves either go hand in hand or they are completely separate. One thing is true: if it is God's will, you will receive what you desire. The catch is that it will only happen in God's perfect will. See what God desires is for patience to have her perfect work. And patience can only have her perfect work when faith is present. If all you see is what you desire, instead of what God's desires, patience, and faith will not take root because you are focused on the thing and not on God. The key to patience is a continual focus on the God who supplies all our needs according to His riches and glory.
Another thing about patience is that whatever it is that your heart desires does not bring glory and does not have the potential to bring glory to God, then what is the point of even having it. God is focused on glory for His Son. Anything else is less than God's best. So today sons and daughters, allow faith to bring patience. And when patience comes, let it keep you continually focused on Christ so that God becomes all that you want.
