Following Your Passions Is The Key To Happiness
Ben Justice

When I was young, those who loved me told me to follow my dreams. Didn’t we all hear those words? When someone asked you what you wanted to be when you grew up, what did you think? If you’re anything like me, you probably wanted to be a professional athlete. Time passes and the dreams of being the next Michael Jordan slowly start to fade. It’s getting closer to when you really need to start figuring things out. Once again you’ll be asked, "what do you want to be when you grow up?" The best answer comes from a man named John Lennon….. “Happy.

What does it mean to be truly happy with life? The answer is different for everyone but the one’s who are truly happy would say it means to be doing what you love. You shouldn’t be wasting your time doing things that you don’t love. Find what you are passionate about and do it. What is holding you back?

Through my own personal experience, I have found that doing the things I am passionate about make me not only happy but determined as well. Music and photography are two of my biggest passions and I had the chance to take photos at a concert and completely fell in love with it. I am nowhere near being the best, but because I love it, I am determined to get to the top. If you have this mentality with any passion of yours, you are bound for greatness.

Passion is the key to success and there are so many reasons why. Others recognize when you have a passion for something. They can see it in your eyes and feel it in your words. When I hear someone talking about something they love, it makes me think about the opportunities they have in front of them. There is nothing wrong with reaching out to someone to show your interest in something because your passion will show. Passionate people love other passionate people. They want to help them achieve their goals.

If you don’t have anything you are super passionate about, don’t worry because your time will come. One day, you will stumble across something that makes you feel a way you’ve never felt before. When you find that passion, chase it. Do not give up on your dreams because you can make them a reality. No matter how long it takes, never give up.

At the end of the day, doing what you love will make you happy. Take a step back and ask yourself if you are doing what you love to do. If the answer is no, you might want to make a change. By making a change to do something you love, you may see a huge difference in your personal happiness. Follow your dreams. Do what you love. Find your passion. Chase it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
