For those of you who don't know, Troy University has recently begun building a brand new fancy fitness center for its students, which is awesome, BUT this brand new fancy fitness center is being built in what is referred to as the Sartain parking lot. This might not sound like a big deal, it might even seem like I should stop complaining and just be happy that we are getting a new facility in the first place, but on a campus that already had limited parking available to its students who commute...the parking lot was a blessing. So, as I pulled into campus on Monday morning spending an estimated 20 minutes trying to find a parking spot, I began thinking of all the things I'd rather be doing.

1. Have to deal with spring allergies all year long

2. Have a 7 a.m. class

3. Be forced to mop my floors every single day for the rest of my life

4. Stub my toe at least 4 times daily

5. Trip in front of a group of hot guys

6. Be forced to watch Nascar

7. Eat only unsalted crackers for a month straight

8. Have a stranger touch me

9. Get a full body wax

10. Eat a vomit flavored Bertie Botts Jelly Bean

11. Walk a mile on Legos

12. Listen to someone say "like" after every word

13. Have to eat a flavored bug

14. Do leg day every day

15. Use a port-a-potty

16. Get a paper-cut between my fingers

17. Pull out of a drive-thru then figure out they got my order wrong.

18. Watch the episode of "Grey's Anatomy" where McDreamy dies

19. Go through a cavity search

20. Be forced to listen to 10 guys 'mansplain' something to me

21. Spill coffee on my favorite white jeans

22. Bite my tongue at least once each day

23. Cancel my Netflix membership

24. Try to pee while wearing a romper

25. Get scratched by a cat

26. Use 1-ply tissue paper

27. Have someone try to talk to me when I have my headphones in

28. Hand wash all of my clothes

29. Listen to someone talk about Trump v. Hillary

30. Anything. Literally anything else.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
