Amid the chaos of the attacks on Paris on Nov. 13, the world stood in shock and grieved for the city of Paris, and in general, for France. The attacks that turned out successful were: the Stade de France explosions, the street shootings and bombings, and the most effective of the three, the Bataclan Theater massacre. The terrorist attack took the lives of 140 individuals. Three of the suspects were dead on the scene and others are still at large.
As the world watched, a special tribute to France took the world by storm. Some of the world’s most famous landmarks lit up their landmark with red, white, and blue stripes, representing the french flag, and out of a sign of respect for those who were killed that night. Some of the landmarks include:
1. The Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai
2. Tower Bridge, London
3. The Brandenburg Gate, Berlin
4. Christ the Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro
5. One World Trade Center, New York City
6. Sydney Opera House, Sydney
7. Skytree Tokyo, Tokyo
8. Old City Walls, Jerusalem
9. Sky Tower, Auckland
10. The Ericsson Globe Arena, Stockholm
11. St. George’s Hall, Liverpool
Social media also took the world by storm with their solidarity toward the French individuals that have been affected by the attacks. You can change your Facebook profile picture to shade over the French flag colors to show your support for the French. Also, many have used the hashtag #pray4paris and #prayersforparis on twitter and other social media websites. Within a few hours of the attack, most of the world had known of the catastrophic events that took place that fateful night.
Stand together as one to support the French and all those affected by these attacks. They need the prayers and support. When our country was affected by the infamous 9/11 attacks, the French showed their support. Now, the French need us more than ever. We, as Americans, need to grieve with them. We need to show our support to the country of France.
