On the night of Friday the 13th, an unprecedented barrage of terrorist attacks hit the city of Paris, France. Starting from a bomb set off at a soccer game at the Bataclan concert hall between France and Germany, to the waves of violent attacks afterward that left the people of Paris in shock. The city was in a state of emergency and the people of France were united in support as fear seeped through the country. As the borders of France were closed off, the world united in support for its people.
In what Obama called an "attack on all humanity", twitter collected into a supportive #PrayForParis, where international prayers were said for the victims of such extreme violence.
Prime Minister David Cameron offers support for the country as it goes through this terrible time.
Live tweets of the events were flooding social media, tweet by tweet, the events were put together for the world.
Across the world, nations stood in solidarity for France by showing the colors of the flag and singing the French National Anthem.
Luckily, that same night students from St John's studying abroad were all safe and accounted for.
In the light of these terrorist attacks, there is a reminder for people to not lose hope, and above all else to not blame the entirety of any group of people. These attacks are not a representation of humanity as a whole, but a select group of individuals. We hope for peace for Paris in this time of terror and fear.
