When the new movie 'To All The Boys I Loved Before' was released on Netflix I quickly fell in love with the story. If you haven't seen the movie stop what you are doing and go watch it because there are spoilers ahead.

One of the main characters, Lara Jean, writes love letters to her crushes over the years. She never intends to send them, but they provide a release of emotions. However, when Peter Kavinsky receives one of the letters they develop a friendship that neither one of them could have predicted would turn into something more. The movie, with is well-written script, and the adorable storyline has won the hearts of frequent Netflix watchers.

I loved the movie. In fact, I have seen the movie FIVE times. Yes, I am a hopeless romantic dork. Don't make fun. It is the new teen movie that any rom-com lover with enjoy.

The movie has sparked a new phenomenon. Noah Centineo. My social media exploded with fans gushing about this new celebrity. The guy jumped up to 8 million Instagram followers online almost overnight. Maybe I am just someone who doesn't get into following a celebrity, but I am surprised at how the world has reacted over someone who plays a character in a movie.

The more I checked my social media, the more I realized that Noah is not the first celebrity that the world is crushing hard over. Even adults have these "celebrity crushes." One adult, whose name I won't mention, have gushed about Tom Selleck for years. Even her husband is in on it. The whole thing is kinda fun. So Noah is not the only celebrity who people will gab about for years. In fact, he is just the most recent celebrity to become a rising star.

Call me weird, but I find the whole thing a bit strange. How can we possibly feel like we know someone we have never met?

Here is why I think we do.

Parasocial relationships. These are made up relationships with characters that don't exist in real life. I don't know about you but overtime I watch "Friends" I feel like I am part of the Rachel, Monica, Phoebe friend group.

Noah Centineo is not Peter Kavinsky. There were no love letters really sent. All of it is made up from the brilliant minds of Hollywood. The guy that the world has fallen in love with is not real. He is a fictional character in a well-developed love story that we have slapped a celebrities face on.

Parasocial relationships are the center of the new fascination surrounding Noah.

For as long as TV has been around people develop make-believe relationships with celebrities based on the characters that they play. We love certain celebrities because in some ways we actually believe that they are similar to their characters. Ever wondered why the villain never gets a large fan following? In fact, some villains admit that people actually believe they are mean in real life.

The make-believe relationships can feel strongly real. After watching an episode of the "Walking Dead" I always get the urge to call my mom and tell her I love her, in case of a zombie apocalypse. When characters die I cry and when they fall in love my heart melts. I love getting so interested in movies that I feel like I actually have a friendship with.

This is why I love fiction. Because it allows us for one second to feel like we are a part of something else. While I may not start swooning over celebrities anytime soon I certainly will swoon over fictional characters that allow me to be a part of their story.

Even if it is only 1hour and 39minutes long.

Ps- If you seriously haven't seen the movie GO WATCH IT NOW!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
