School has officially begun meaning that people are finally buying books and maybe getting school supplies.
Perhaps I was the only person who showed up to class with just my laptop, only to have the teacher ask us to pull out a paper and pencil. Needless to say I ran down to the bookstore after we finished early.
With one year under my belt, I like to think I have a decent idea of what every student needs in order to get by in their classes.
1. Pencils/ Pens/ Highlighters
Please have some sort of writing utensil so that you can manage to write down notes or complete in-class assignments while in class. Asking a neighbor is nice, but lets not make it a habit.
2. Your laptop
If you're anything like me then you live and breathe your computer. I don't think I go anywhere without it. If you have the right apps, then you really don't need anything else. Also, most classes allow you to use your computer for pretty much anything so that's kind of nice.
3. A notebook
You honestly only need one or two unless you like being super organized. You can just put whatever you need in them and flip to that section when doing your homework. There is no need to buy in excess guys. Again, use your laptop.
4. Chapstick/water
Stay hydrated. I know it seems silly but people can pass out in class. Also, make sure your lips are silky smooth at all times because why not?
5. A planner
Something that you can use to pretend that your life is in order when really, it is just a hot mess. At least you tried right?
6. Snacks
If you don't keep snacks in your backpack at all times or have one in your hand I don't think you qualify as a college student. They act as brain food or as something to get you by until you can go eat real food. You need snacks.
7. Headphones
For studying and jamming out. After all, you can't use them in class. If you are truly in a mood to not pay attention, though, I suggest the subtitles on Netflix. That is how I stayed awake in math and looked like I was taking notes. You're welcome.
8. Gum and Misc
You can go on Pinterest and find like 100 different things you need in your backpack to pass college, but honestly if you have these seven you should be set. If you're missing anything, I am almost certain a freshman has it in their backpack and you can just mooch off them, or go to your room.
