What To Pack For A Weekend Getaway

Vacations are nice, but sometimes they require mass amounts of planning, packing, and strategizing. Vacations, while worth it in the end, let's face it, can be kind of a hassle. Weekend getaways are more spur-of-the-moment, and can get you on vacation fast, so that there's more time for relaxation instead of worrying.

Weekend getaways should be easy-breezy like Sunday morning. So, with that being said, you don't want to have to drag a lot of stuff with you on Friday, just to be hauling it back on Sunday.

Here are some things that I would bring on a weekend getaway:

(Items may vary depending on destination)

Snacks

Snacks are ESSENTIAL when it comes to getaways. You never know amidst the spontaneity when the munchies may strike. I recommend things like pretzels, goldfish crackers, and other things that can be easily transported and nommed on.

The Basics

One thing I've learned on weekend getaways is that you always wear and use far less than you anticipate. You may pack five t-shirts, but I guarantee that not even half of them will leave your suitcase, unless of course, necessary. I think that packing light really helps add to the feel of picking up and going, and allows you to avoid the clutter that you might have at home, and feel more free on your vacation.

Backpack

Backpacks are nice over-the-shoulder holders for things you might need. Personally, I keep my laptop, kindle, and phone chargers in mine, so that I can have easy access to them. I love the portability of a backpack, and its ability to up and go. If you're lucky, you might even be able to double it up as a suitcase!

Cash

Regardless of where you're going, it's always good to keep a little extra cash on you at all times, in case a credit card doesn't work out or something. Having cash is a great backup for emergencies, and a much easier way to purchase things quickly and efficiently if a card isn't working out.

Toiletries

Just because you're going on a getaway, doesn't mean that your hygiene has to get away from you. Make sure to bring travel-size goodies such as toothpaste, razors, shaving cream, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc. The travel sizes of things are easy to find at your local Target, and are perfect if you don't want to haul all the full size products with you.

A Good Attitude

Attitude is everything! Remember that if you get to getaway, you're lucky. There's a lot of people that don't get to. Make the most of the time you have, and learn to love every moment.

I didn't really want to be redundant, so I'm gonna insert a cute checklist I found on Pinterest, that hopefully, in addition to my few thoughts/essentials, will help you pack and make the most of your weekend getaway! Have a great time, and above all, wherever you're going, and make sure you get there and back safely.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
