I’ll be the first one to admit that I am a crazy cat lady! I have cat pictures on my walls, cat signs in my home and most importantly, I have an insanely cute cat. He has a million nicknames and I make sure to have his birthday written on my calendar. Kitty, yes I know very original name, has been one of the best additions to my life. Seeing a cute little face on my bed every morning has to be one of the most therapeutic things in life. Owning him has also forever changed my life and I know any cat owner can relate to what I’m about to say.
Say goodbye to ever having hair free clothes
His little fur is everywhere! I’m pretty sure I don’t have any piece of clothing that doesn’t have tiny pieces of white cat hair on it besides underwear. The little roller becomes one of your best friends and at least 30 minutes a day is spent trying to make your clothing look like when it first came out of the dryer.
Study time now has a new enemy
These creature may look like furry angels but when it comes to studying with a cat, they are the devil. If you put a pencil down for a second they decide that this pencil is the most interesting toy they have ever seen. Was that feathered bird toy I just bought you not good enough?!? Also I thought it was supposed to be dogs that ate homework, but apparently cats share this same passion. I have literally written on take home tests, “Sorry! My cat likes to nibble on corners.”
Water cups are no longer safe
No matter how full their water bowls are, your drinking cup is far more desirable. One second you’re taking a sip and next thing there is a cat tongue lapping up what’s left in the glass. If you have a particularly sassy cat they might it’s amusing to even knock aforementioned cup off the ledge just to stick it to the man.
You now have an added chorus of noises
Wake up. Meow! Turn off the lights for bed. Meow! A day is not complete with out hearing their little melody multiple times. Not surprisingly you start talking back as if you have some how become Doctor Dolittle.
Your picture roll is full of photoshoots
Posing a cat is quite hard so when the lighting and angle is right you have to seize the opportunity. You become a proud parent desperate to show off your baby in the best way. You groom and primp them as if you are about to enter them in some weird cat pageant.
You realize how lucky you are
When I explain to be people why I’m a cat person, my first point I always mention is that dogs love everyone, you have to earn a cat’s love. Nothing is more rewarding then realizing that you mean the world to a feline and seeing that loving look in their eyes.
