So often in life, we find ourselves facing uncertainty. Uncertainty about jobs, our love life, our finances, etc.

We wonder if we will keep a job, if we will like our job, or if we will even get the job we applied and interviewed for.

We question if someone will ever love us, if we will ever end up married, or if we will be alone for the rest of our lives.

We stress over if we will have enough money to pay bills this month, if we can afford to pay for extra expenses, or if we need to downsize because we can’t pay for everything we have.

All of that makes us question and fear for the things we have no control over. The uncertainties of life. There is so much in life that we have no control over and yet we still fear the uncertainty of it all even if it is out of our control.

I know for me, there is so much in my life that is still uncertain. Will I do well on the MCAT? Will I make it into medical school? What if I don’t, do I have a backup plan? Will I end up getting married someday and having a family? Every day I am stressed over the things that at the end of the day, I don’t have control over at this moment in time.

At the end of the day though, we have to learn to let go and let God. While that definitely is not easiest thing to accept, it still can be the biggest relief when you realize that you cannot control the rest of your life and have to accept the uncertainty. At the end of the day, no matter how difficult it is, you have to trust that God has a plan for you and that he knows what He is doing. The bible says:

Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’

Proverbs 3:5-6 says ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heartand lean not on your own understanding;in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.’

While putting all our trust in God might not be the easiest thing to do, sometimes, it is all we can do. We can’t carry the weight of the world on our shoulders and we certainly can’t control everything. Accept what you cannot control and trust that God has a plan for you and that He knows what He is doing in your life.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
