Which "Spiderman" is the best "Spiderman"? The question that's on everyone's mind and keeps us awake at night. In the beginning you had the insane radicals who worshiped Toby Maguire's "Spiderman" versus the sensible people who believe that Andrew Garfield's is the one true "Spiderman", but now things have gotten much worse. On July 7th, there is going to be a new group of people to fight against: the Tom Hollands!
We need an answer before this question sets our world into a crisis. So let's go through the pros and cons of each "Spiderman" based on their movies and how well they portrayed the character. This will decide who truly is the Amazing "Spiderman".
1.Tobey Maguire (Spiderman 2002-2007)
When the first movie came out everyone fell in love with it. 15 years ago the only blockbuster superhero movies to come out before it were "X-men" (2000) and "Batman" (1989). Those two movies had dark tones and that's why when audiences went to go see "Spiderman", it was a refreshing view on superheros. It was colorful, family friendly, and fun. Since there was no there "Spiderman" to compare him to, everyone thought he was great, but that doesn't mean he didn't have his flaws.
Pros:
. Doctor Octopus was portrayed perfectly and fought against Maguire in comic book fashion in the second movie.
. The only real connection between Spiderman and Mary Jane was the upside down kiss
. Maguire working as a photographer for the Daily Bugle was spot on
. Maguire getting bit by the spider was an iconic moment in movie history.
. J. Jonah Jameson was hands on the best thing about this trilogy
Cons:
. He shoots his webs from wrists (Really?)
. Maguire looks like a 30 year old man, not a highschooler
. The suit in all 3 movies look stiff and nothing like the comics.
. Tobey Maguire and Kristen Dunst (Mary Jane) have terrible chemistry together
. Can we just forget about the third movie completely?
. Aunt may looks like she should be his grandmother.
If this is your Spiderman than you need to re-evaluate your entire life.

2. Andrew Garfield ( Spiderman 2012-2014)
Debuting in 2012, Andrew Garfield gave Tobey Maguire a run for his money with his performance in the "Amazing Spiderman". This movie showed us that we can have a completely different movie using the same main character and it actually turning out good. Andrew Garfield's Spiderman added actual romance, intense action, comedy, and a deeper story. It even doubled-down on all these factors in the second movie. He truly put the "amazing" in "Amazing Spiderman".
Pros:
. He's your friendly neighborhood Spiderman helping citizens in a majority of the scenes; from stopping a bus from crashing to walking a kid home from school.
. His suit in the second "Amazing Spiderman" movie was a perfect representation of the comic counterpart.
.You can actually feel a love connection between Peter Parker and Gwen Stacey
. Garfield looks like he could be a high school senior
. He sticks to the comics because in the movie he accidentally snaps Gwen Stacey's neck
. He makes witty comments while fighting bad guys, just like in the comics.
. Aunt May actually looks the right age to play the aunt.
. He actually makes his own web shooters
. The action is fast paced, colorful, and fun.
Cons:
. There were too many villains in the second movie, which makes the movie messy.
. Doesn't look nerdy enough for Peter Parker.
. He doesn't work for the Daily Bugle.
. They messed up the Green Goblin, making him into a joke of a character.
. We could've done without the origin story again, or they should've just summarized it.
. Let's just forget about the Rhino in "Amzing Spiderman 2".
3. Tom Holland (Spiderman 2016- current)
First appearing in the MCU's "Captain America: Civil War", Tom Holland stole the show with his portrayal of Spiderman. Going toe-to-toe with members of the Avengers, while constantly spewing wise-crack comments instantly made him a top contender for the ultimate Spiderman. His own movie comes out on July 7th, so we will have to see if it puts Maguire and Garfield to shame.
Pros:
. This Spiderman is around 15-16 years old, making him the perfect age for the role.
. He is very comedic, making a joke almost every time we seen him in action.
.His eyes on his mask move, which enables emotion to be shown.
. He, as well as Garfield, has web shooters, instead of the web coming from his wrist.
. Sides with Tony Stark in Civil War, which is true to the comics.
. It skips his origin story completely and throws him straight into the action.
. His movie revolves around high school, which is perfect for the character.
Cons:
. His suit looks too much like CGI, instead of an actual costume
. His suit is too robotic, like Iron man's.
. His aunt is way too young, looking like she could be his older sister.
Final Verdict:
Sorry Tobey Maguire. Let's leave the web slinging to Garfield and Holland. Holland has a strong chance at taking the title, but we have to wait and see until his movie is released. So right now, the one true Spiderman is the one and only, Andrew Garfield!
