My original vision for this project was to create a series of short films about smartphone addiction in millennials. Much of my original ideas about how I would film the video and go about it remained until the final cut, but I adjusted the overall presentation. The series of films is now one eight minute video. I did this to give the viewers an easier way to see the conclusion of the video, as opposed to having to search for the final two installments.
During the creation of the video, I implemented the interviewing techniques we worked on, as I interviewed three different people. I used a microphone which I attached to the Canon 60d camera which I used to film the interviewees. Next, I edited the audio and video clips together in the Lightworks video editing program. On Monday, I posted an online poll that was created using SurveyMonkey onto the Stewart and Hart Facebook pages, asking the residents to fill it out and give me some valuable feedback. With the data I received, I created the circle graphs that provided illustration to parts of the finished video. To supplement the graphs and interview footage, I took the camera around campus and took video of people using their smartphones as well as generic shots of people walking by the Fluor Fountain.
The poll that I sent out was anonymous, and I received permission from those who I interviewed and took footage of to put them in the video. It was a lot of fun to make and hopefully it will be informative and inspirational to those who watch it!
