To My Best Guy Friend,

I do not thank you nearly enough for everything you do for me. In 8th grade we started dating; it was the 8th grade relationship that I still taunt you about. I will never forget how much of an oddball you were, with your long, straight, shoulder length hair. When we broke up and basically hated each other freshman year, it was because you started to date my best friend. Sophomore year came around and we put everything behind us and decided to be friends. This was the start of an amazing friendship. It wasn't until the summer going into junior year that we got very close. We spent a lot of time together that summer and that is when you became my best friend. Since then, you have always been there for me and always have supported me through everything. Even when you told me something wasn't a good idea, but then I did it anyway, you were still there for me to help me when it went wrong. You listened to me when I had so many problems and you helped me. You are always 100% honest with me, even if you know it might hurt me, but I'm thankful for that. When we had a sleepover over the summer, you listened to me talk about how much of a good guy my new crush was and how I really liked him; you supported me. But you were also there to pick up the pieces when, two months later, I was crying over the same guy because he cheated on me. You were always there to tell me that he wasn't good enough for me or he didn't deserve me. You have been with me through every heartbreak and every breakup. You literally wiped my tears away and told me the guy I'm crying over isn't worth them. Even when it was you I was crying about you would always be there to wipe away the tears. Because of you, since we tried to date, I learned how it feels to have a guy treat me right instead of like a doormat. You have always been my #1 biggest supporter when it comes to everything. You always tell me that I will do great with field hockey when I am feeling down about it. You always know exactly what to do when I need a pick-me-up. Even when we were fighting you were always there for me. Even when we broke up because I needed space, then two days later my dog died, you were there to help me through it. You put up with my nonsense every day. You laughed at me when I would do something comedically stupid like when I overflowed my bathroom with water beads and they wouldn't stop growing. Or when I cried at the sight of a corgi. You held my hand when I was scared and told me everything was going to be okay, and you would drop everything to make sure of it. I will never forget the time I was having an anxiety attack and wasn't responding to you and at 11 pm, in the freezing cold, you skateboarded all the way to my house from the other side of town to make sure I was okay. I'd do the same for you. You will always be my best friend. No matter what happens between us, at the end of the day, I will love you as my best friend. I will always be there for you like you have always been there for me. If you need me at 3 am, call me and I will be there. I will always give you girl advice, even if I think you deserve better than her. I will always be your biggest supporter in whatever you do and I will always be cheering you on. We sometimes have very different opinions, like how you think Nate and Blair belong together in Gossip Girl, but I think Chuck and Blair should be together. Whenever something good happens I always get so excited to tell you. You helped me through my rough times and congratulated me on my accomplishments. Nothing can replace that. Thank you for being my best friend. I love you to the moon and back.

From,

Ashley

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
