Open Letter To My Staff
Whitney Caskey

Dear my wonderful, amazing Staff,

It wasn’t just by accident that we were placed together. I don’t consider this luck; I consider this a blessing in disguise. Strangers becoming co-workers, and co-workers becoming friends, and friends becoming family is something that I never imagined, but I'm so thankful it happened. Somehow we all fit together like a perfect puzzle. Each one of you has made an impact on my life like no other as well as taught me lessons that only you could teach and lessons that I was too afraid to learn. They say people come into your life for a reason. I may not have figured out that reason just yet, but I am so incredibly thankful for it.

I want to say thank you. Thank you always being there, whether it was an in person chat or a just a text away. Thank you for supporting my coffee addiction and always knowing when I need a cup or four. Thank you for always being up for a late night food runs or movie nights. Thank you for always making me laugh. Thank you for not judging me for my weird habits as you got to know me. Thank you for supporting me in all my dreams. Thank you for encouraging me when I didn’t have any courage left. Thank you for making me a better version of myself. Thank you for being my inspirations, inspiring me to do more than I ever thought I could. Thank you for being my motivators; even when I think I can’t go any further you push me beyond my limits. You make me strive to be a better person daily. Thank you for being honest and dependable. There is so much more I can thank you for, but most importantly thank you for all the love and the memories.

From early mornings to late nights to everything in between you all have been there. You have seen me at my best and also at my worst, through good days and bad days. I’ve always had someone to turn to, someone to make me laugh, someone to give me advice, someone to go eat with or to go shopping. You all have been my constant support and encouragement; not a day goes by without a kind word or smile as we pass in the hall. I love our random chats and all the jokes we have made. The long hours and late nights are only made better with a staff like this. I wouldn’t trade a moment of time working with you all. I don’t know what my life would be without you all in it, and I wouldn’t want to find out. So thank you for being not just my co-workers but my family. You all deserve much more than just this letter, but at least it is a start. “Because I knew you… I have been changed, for good.”

With love,

Your Starbucks-loving, monogrammed-obsessed co-worker.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
