Open Letter To The Teachers Who Inspire Me To Teach

To my past, present, and future teachers,

Believe it or not, every student has a teacher that will always stick out in our minds. You all inspire us to be the very best or to do things that help us stand out. Whether you teach us real world lessons or you were our biggest supporter when we were losing all of our faith, you were special to someone. This is for those teachers that stick out in my mind when I think of why I want to teach. You guys are the ones that inspired me to actually do my homework, or that pushed me harder than I could ever imagine, or even that just care for me more than I could ever wish. This also goes to the teachers that were the total opposite of this, the ones who I would never inspire to be because of how cruel they seemed.

The most important thing I can say, is THANK YOU. Thank you for all of your long hours that were involved in teaching, mentoring, guiding, and caring for me. As a hopefully future teacher, I hope to not only impact every student, but to be like you and become the teacher that they will think of and thank for a lifetime. Thank you for teaching me that I deserve success, and I deserve to be proud of myself. Everything I did, you would tell me how I could strive to take everything a step further and push myself farther. I can honestly say, I don't know where or who I would be without all of my teachers. You have all impacted me more than I ever imagined.

Whenever someone asks me, what I'm going to major in, I shyly tell them education. This is because they are all skeptical over this major and will try to talk me out of it. I have heard every reason in the book for me not to pursue teaching, but theres a major part in me that knows, this is what I am destined to do. They will say theres no money involved. While, yes, I'm not oblivious to the idea that teachers make close to nothing, but my goal isn't to become. a millionaire through teaching. Teaching has always been my passion, I can still see my 8 year old self, playing school in my bedroom with my chalkboard and wipe off board. The truth is seeing the spirit of a child, shine through when they finally understand something, is worth a lot more than a huge amount of money. The other reason they will bring up is that its hard to find a job in this field, but there is always a need for teachers. Regardless, I know its a competitive field, but I am completely ready for this completion. I am ready because of my teachers. I know that I CAN and WILL be successful in my career as a teacher.

So, thank you, for the teachers who have always taken every spare moment to be there for me, whether for kind words that I was in need of, or to help me study. You all have made a bigger impact than you think. So thank you to my 10th grade geometry teacher, who I go to whenever I am struggling in math and feel like I should just give up, but he tells me in the best possible way, that I am better than that. Thank you to my 10th grade AP European history teacher, who I can still go to when I need a shoulder to cry on because my best friend is no longer there for me or I just can't handle all the stress. Thank you to my second grade teacher, who always comes to my register while I'm working at the grocery store, and still has inspiring words and takes the time to tell me how proud she is of the young lady I am becoming.

I am proud to say I had you all as teachers. I am proud to say that I am an education major because of you all. So from one struggling student to another, we thank you all. Your passions continue to inspire me, everyday.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
