Dear Teacher,
It seems just like yesterday I walked into your class for the very first time. I watched you everyday, do what you love: teaching. You weren't one of those teachers that were just there for the money. You weren't there just because you felt like you had to. You were so much more than that. You were there to share your passion and your love for music, math, theatre and reading to all of us. Don't get me wrong, there were nights that I wanted to pull my hair out because of your class. But, I kept trying. If you were one of those teachers that just didn't care, I probably wouldn't have cared. I probably wouldn't have bothered with homework, studying for a test or showing up for class. But I didn't. I sat there everyday and kept trying. You would always encourage me and you wouldn't let me fail. You pushed me out of our comfort zones to take on new horizons. You told us that you were always there if we needed anything. Not many teachers I've had, have done that. You showed me that just by working hard, we can accomplish just about anything. You taught me that there's nothing wrong with asking for a little help. You took me in as if I was your own. You showed me that I can take on anything, no matter how difficult. You told me to not be afraid of who I was. And honestly, that is what made you an amazing teacher. Even though I have forgotten just about every part of trigonometry, or how to help a kid when they're upset, or what the elements of tragedy are, or the fingerings of a D flat on a baritone, I did remember something else. I remember you as a teacher. I remember everything you taught me outside of academics. I remember that smile you always wore, no matter how your day was going. You also knew when to get tough. You knew when enough was enough. You showed me how to set limits(and not in a math setting). You answered every countless email, no matter how late at night it was, or how close the test was. You were there for me. And honestly, I am so thankful for that. Thank you for everything you have taught myself and so many others. You have changed my life for the better. And I don't know how I can ever thank you for that.
Love,
The student who's life was changed.
