An Open Letter To Summer From A College Student Coming Home

Dear Summer 2017,

Words cannot express how excited I am to meet you and enjoy my time with you for the next three months. School has been very overwhelming lately, and I definitely need a break. I'm ready to not have to worry about school or homework these next couple months. I have so much planned to do during these three months, and I will for sure make them all count.

This is my first year back for the summer since being in college. I am coming back after my freshman year, and it is for sure a different feeling. But this feeling is honestly a good one. I've experienced a new life in college, and I have learned so much about myself as well. I can't wait for you to meet all my new friends and catch up with old friends as well. You will make amazing memories with all of them. I promise to only pick out the best ones to show you.

Going into this summer, I have a different mentality on you. Every past summer, I haven't been able to fully live the life I wanted to. I would always say I would do so many things each summer, but they would never happen. I guess it was a combination of holding myself back, and being afraid of new things. This time, you're different. I have so much planned for the both of us, and I'm excited to live the life I want to live this summer as well.

I can't wait for you to experience Lollapalooza, daily gym runs, long summer nights with friends, bonfires, the beach, and many more adventures to come. I promise you I will make the most of the little amount of time we have together, and I will not waste one second of the craziness ahead of us.

There will be those days where I think the world is out to get me, but you need to snap me out of it. You need to help me to pick myself up and not be afraid of the world. You need to let me experience life to the fullest, without anything holding me back. I cannot begin to explain how excited I am for you to come into my life. Soon I will be done with school, and then I can finally experience the summer I want to.

I can't wait for our adventures and memories together, and I hope you're excited too. I promise to not let you down, and always make the most of every moment with you. We only have three months together, so let's make them count. Summer 2017, I am so ready to meet you.
