An Open Letter To My Roommate Who Became My Best Friend

Hey Roomie,

After spending our first year of college together, I realized that you really must be some kind of saint for putting up with me. You've seen it all; my best and worst moments, and I've seen all of yours. This year definitely had its ups and downs, but I'm so glad I got to experience it living with you.

Getting the email from you saying you were my roommate sent thousands of different thoughts through my head. I had no idea who you were, and it's hard to believe we met only a few months ago. After creeping through your social media for about two hours, I realized how much we had in common. Once we started texting and actually getting to know each other, I couldn't wait to finally move in and get to know you.

After we moved in and talked for hours, I never knew how I didn't know you before. We clicked from the start and started doing literally everything together. You're just as Starbucks and cupcake obsessed as I am, which is just about all I could ask for in a roommate. You're always the first one to tell me when I'm being unreasonable or to back me up even when we both know I'm wrong.

Thank you for putting up with my annoying rants and for hating the same people I hate. Thanks for always telling me which outfits look good and bad, and for supporting my shopping addiction. You have my back through it all and it's nice to know I always have someone to lean on.

You've seen some of the worst sides of me. From waking up in the morning to the struggle of going to the gym. You were never one to judge, which made it that much easier to be 100% my crazy self around you. We lay up in bed for hours just talking about whatever comes to mind until, eventually, I end up talking to myself because you always fall asleep on me.

We spent almost every second together unless we were in class or attempting to get homework done. I knew your schedule and you knew mine, and as soon as class was over we knew exactly what we wanted to go and do. Which was most likely go to target or get something to eat. Most of the time I'm not sure how we have exactly the same mind, mood and everything in between.

I'm so excited to move back in so we can get back to our Food Network binges, fro-yo runs and stalking random people on Instagram. You will forever be my favorite roommate, and one of my best friends for life!

xoxo,

Your Roommate for life

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
