You know who you are.
You may not realize it, or maybe you're denying it, but you know. Maybe you didn't mean to snap at your waitress when your salad had onions and you clearly had asked to leave them off, but it still leaves an impact on your waiter, whether you realize it or not.
I completely understand, you're in a hurry to get somewhere or you're just really hungry and can't wait to dive into the sandwich you just ordered, but it's wrong. There's mushrooms on it and you hate mushrooms. What do you do? I'll tell you what not to do: don't yell. Don't make a scene and don't put the worker down for a simple mistake that can easily be fixed.
As much as you want to believe that your office job makes you better than the college students working at McDonalds, you're not. You're the same. You both have feelings, needs, emotions, and you both make mistakes. You were there once, working a part-time summer job you didn't particularly care for, but you needed the money. You know what it's like to get yelled at over silly things and to be stuck working behind a register while all of your friends were taking week-long tropical vacations. Getting angry with someone over something minor isn't necessary and only makes the situation you're in more stressful for everyone.
If you're having a bad day and it only seems to be getting worse when your order isn't completely right, stop and think before you go back and get angry with someone. The staff knows you're upset and is willing to do anything to fix the mistake, so please bear with them and use your manners. Everyone has bad days and everyone makes mistakes, so we all need to work together to make life a little easier for each other. Remember that we're here to serve each other.
