I’m often told I have an old soul. This is because I constantly talk about politics, I’m passionate about playing chess, and of course, I eat oatmeal. Oatmeal, I used to think you were disgusting and only something my dad would eat. Just like my dad taught me how to play chess and how to think with reason, he taught me to love oatmeal. But what's there to like about you? Well, you come in all different flavors, blueberry, apple cinnamon, and the daring double wild-berry. People will describe you as bland and clunky, but pay no attention to them! They refuse to experience your passion, your taste, and your endless health benefits. I am no nutritionist, but I'm told you're healthy for the heart and I'm positive you keep me from starvation.
I promise that I defend you and all your benefits, but people still don't give you a chance. Maybe they are just scared that you're too healthy for them, and for some reason, people don't like to be healthy. Or maybe they think you're out of date and obsolete compared to the sweet cereals of the modern world. I suppose some of the values and traditions are just lost to most of this generation.
I admire how you are good for my heart, that why the fastest way to my heart is a warm bowl of Trader Joe's oatmeal.
