Hey,
First and foremost, thank you for making the decision to become a nurse. The reality of the situation though is nursing school is not easy in the slightest. Make sure you buy plenty of flashcards and espresso as you embark on the roller coaster that is nursing school. You are going to hit multiple rough patches, sleepless nights, and countless tears. However, no matter how many obstacles are put in front of you they will not stand a chance if you truly want to achieve your dream of becoming a nurse. With that being said the stress that plagues a nursing student’s life is greatly outweighed by the positive features that nursing school has to offer.
You are going to be surrounded by like-minded people who share the same motivation as you.Take advantage of that, use that commonality as a way to push each other to do better. You’re going to make amazing friends and memories over the course of your educational career. Nursing school is fun, you experience real life situations. You get glimpses of what your career is actually going to entail.
When the bad days come, and they will, remember what initially inspired you to make the decision to become a nurse. Whether it was a family friend, your general passion for helping others, or a Grey’s Anatomy episode, hold on to that inspiration. The days when you want to quit will come down to your ability to look past the negative situation and use the greatest weapon that you possess: your passion. You have to push past a road block and find an alternate route.
An important thing to remember is that the negative situations that can arise are temporary. A bad test grade, a negative situation, or what seems to be a closed door is not a permanent determinant of your worth. The fact that you made a decision to enter into a career path where your day to day life is centered around helping people and that speaks to your character as a person.
Don’t give up.
