Dear high school me,
You are having the time of your life right now, you just don't realize it. The friends you have, your family, the relationships that have failed and succeeded, the grades you've earned and the life you are living is under appreciated.
Friends will come and go, but your besties right now will not fade from your life. You have so many memories to share with them: you will laugh, cry and blush about when you've moved on from those "childish" days. You may change as you go to different colleges or find different interests, but they will always wish the best for you just as well as you will wish the best for them. You may not talk everyday, just because of life, but your friendship will always pick up right where you left it. Treasure the friendships you've built, and don't let them go.
Family does really mean everything. Living at home sucks while you're there, but is the best thing ever when you don't. As much as your parents annoy and smother you with questions about everything, you will miss them immensely when no one asks how your day was at dinner, when you have to do your own laundry and when no one tells you what to do. Never miss a chance to tell your mom, dad, sister and even your dog how much you love them.
Your ex-boyfriend's have shaped you into the person you are today. There is no need to talk crap about them on Twitter or unfriend them on Facebook. They may have broke your heart, but you have learned a lot from them, and for that, you have them to thank. It will be hard to watch them move on with their lives, but it will be just as hard for them.
High school classes may seem like a joke, and you probably won't attend all of them, but the more you try in high school, the more you will succeed in college. Not only will good grades (even in ridiculous classes like study hall) help you to get accepted into the school of your dreams, but they will allow you to be ahead of your classmates in college; and trust me, if you can get ahead in college courses, you want to take advantage of it. The point is: go to school, try hard and succeed.
Whether your life is staying in and reading a book on a Friday night, or passing out in a field because you partied way too dang hard: Your life is awesome. No bills, no stress, no paying for gas, no cooking your own meals, no worries about your next job; appreciate the time you have to live this way. What they say is true: the real world sucks. Go and live your life to the fullest. And don't worry about anything, either. You shouldn't have too.
Sincerely,
The Girl Who Misses Who She Used To Be
