Hey you.
You're either happy you're saving money, envious of the adventures all your friends and family are sure to have, or feeling a bit of both. They'll be in Florida, California, New York... Hell, even the Bahamas or Key West. The tropical trips are endless, and yet, here we are, at home.
Again.
We save money, though. Likely thousands of dollars between plane tickets / other travel costs, hotel stays, food three times a day (and likely impulse snacks after seeing a place you'd like to try), and more.
Some people, even before these trips, buy entirely new outfits just for the occasion of vacation. I've never understood that - the need, or the waste of money - but to each their own.
What I do know is that this year, yet again, I'll have the chance to see old friends and family that stay home, too. We can have adventures that are just as fun without breaking the bank.
Better than that, I'll be able to spend quality time with the ones I miss the most: my boyfriend and my dog. They are always an hour away, and it's true, that saying:
"You don't know what you've got until it's gone."
I miss the impulse walks with my dog when the weather is nice, the breeze blowing through our hair and the sun shining down on us.
I miss being able to drive to the store - a mere five minutes away - to grab that one ingredient we were missing to make our meal perfect.
I miss being able to cuddle with them, anytime I want, even though my dog loves to wedge between us.
More than these little pleasures, spring break is the chance for me to reconnect with myself.
Because while self-care helps curb the stress, the semesters are always long and hard, and we often lose track of ourselves no matter how hard we try.
I'm going to love the Ohio weather, whether that means I'm strolling beneath the sun in a tank top or soaked to the bone after rolling around in the snow.
I'm going to indulge in naps, in sweet treats, in all of the shows and movies I swore I would watch or finish but never got around to.
And I'm going to cherish every moment of it.
Happy at Home,
Rose
