An Open Letter To My Friends Not Going With Me To College
Laura Pepper

Wow. This is even harder than I thought. I wish I could just stick you all in my boxes of stuff and take you with me. Thank you for the love, patience and acceptance you've shown me over the years.

To the friends I've known all of my life, thank you. Without you, I would not be the same person I am today. Without you, I would not have had someone to lean on every day of my life. Saying goodbye seems unreal as it feels like yesterday we were in elementary school together, without a care in the world. As our journeys make have a fork in the road during this season, that does not mean you won't always be in my heart. It feels strange that this is the first time you won't live ten minutes away from me. We can't have random sleepovers and lunches together. We won't be at church together. Thank you though for your investment. Thank you for being there for me during all seasons of my life.

To the friends I've met while growing up, thank you as well. You are some of the most amazing people I have ever met in my entire life. I feel as if we have been friends since birth because of the bond that we have now. Thank you for becoming my friend in more recent years of my life and choosing me. You are grounded and help me in my journeys through life just as I help you. That's how we work. We are a team.

To the friends I met at school, thank you. You've taught me so many wonderful things about different cultures and hobbies that I never would have known of otherwise. It's people like you that are also open to hearing what I believe and enjoy as well. You taught me that you don't have to agree with someone to care for them and show them love.

To the friends I met at church, thank you. I so appreciate the times you prayed for me, and pushed me farther and deeper into The Lord's unfailing love. Thank you for reminding me that my salvation is in Christ and not based upon my works. You are friends that I am so thankful for you because we had the opportunity to see each other as Christ's child.

Time has flown faster than I could have ever imagined, but I am so blessed to have had you all to walk through life with. College is new for all of us, and although we may not be with each other in this next season of our lives, I hope we can come back and pick back up right where we left off. I cannot believe we are at this point of spreading our wings and flying, but it's time. It's time for every one of us to embark on our new adventures and begin again. It's time to start fresh. This is your clean slate.

Love,

Your friend

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
