It has been confirmed that come March of 2016, One Direction members Louis Tomlinson, Nial Horan, and Liam Payne are taking a break. Horan confirms via Twitter that "we are not splitting up, but we will be taking a well earned break at some point next year." One Direction has been touring since June and will wrap up their "On the Road Again" tour in late October.
The band took to Twitter last night to settle any unanswered questions or rumors. Confirming in different but similar tweets, the band reassured their fans that they were not going anywhere any time soon, and they promise they will be back within the year. The break is only to work on themselves and come back stronger.
Some of the most reassuring words came from Liam. "Thank you so much for everything you have done for us," Payne tweeted. "It's been the most amazing five years and there's so much more to come."
"Your support is truly indescribable! It's just a break. We are not going anywhere, promise!" Louis Tomlinson tweeted.
The band's manager, Julian Bunetta, has confirmed the break in an interview. "I know they're taking a much-deserved break." They've been doing something that no band has ever done—five albums, five tours, and a movie in five years. It's pretty prolific and incredible. It's up to them. They might take a year off and miss it. They might take a year off and say you know what, I need another year off."
The band is simply taking a year to work on themselves and further their solo careers. If you are a huge One Direction fan, you will be happy to hear that they are releasing their fifth album in the fall. This is the first album without Zayn Malik, who left the band in March to pursue his own career, recently signing a contract with RCA Records.
One Direction appreciates the support from their fans through this decision. With promises to return, this is simply a break, and not a break up. I am sure by March of 2016 they will make a huge comeback, and be better than they have ever been.
