To my dearest friend,
First and foremost, thank you. There is simply no other way to define your endless love than by offering what I can to make up for your incomparable duties as my best friend. Your birthday is a day to celebrate who you have become in your time on earth. You have created a large success for yourself in academia and social achievements, and your efforts have not gone unnoticed.
Your laughter is one thing that seems to get me through. The jokes I crack that are often dim-witted and thought of on a whim, seem to make you smile. To know that I’ve made someone happy for a mere split second, is enough to fill the depths of my heart. Your constant encouragement of my goofiness makes me feel giddy, and I appreciate your humor too. Your lighthearted nature and whimsy provide an opportunity to make me feel like we’re two school girls hiding our gossip from the ears of others.
Your intelligence speaks volumes. The dialect and prose your diction presents is enough to put scholars to shame. The ability you hold to grasp such content and allow for application in everyday life is astounding. And of course - the wit you present boggles my mind, seeing as whatever you put your mind to is possible. There is no stopping you.
The persistence you’ve had in sticking by my side is more than I could ever say for another friend. You always seem to know what I want to hear, you sing me songs when words aren’t enough, and you are a shoulder to cry on when I can’t handle the weight.
While turning eighteen, your wisdom is beyond your years. The life lessons you have taught me are incomparable. Teaching myself that I am worthy of anyone’s time and dedicating myself to a better life are all due to you. And when I seek advice that you may not have, you always yearn to understand what I go through – so you can help in any way.
I remember one day you told me that you wouldn’t mind being my sidekick, as long as we spent our adventures together. This struck me as odd, because I never saw myself as a leader. I always insisted what others thought was right, for fear of conflict. You gave me the confidence to believe that who I presented myself as was good enough for someone – and that someone was you.
I am more than happy that I can share some of your time here on earth. God works wonders, and I know He did when He placed you in my life. Your endless love and shining light are enough to keep me thanking all that I have. I hope your birthday celebrations are glorious – like you, and offer the happiness you surely deserve. I hope we can create new adventures where two heroes journey side-by-side.
With all my love,
Your Best Friend.
