Thanks to your parents, you were brought into this world with a best friend already waiting for you. Your older sister has been your best friend since day one (literally). Even though you don't always get along or you forget to tell her, there are things she needs to know you're thankful for. So here's to you, big sis. You're the real MVP.
1. Sharing clothes (knowingly and unknowingly)
Having an older sister basically means having twice the clothes and shoes. Thank you for letting me borrow your newest shirt or your favorite dress (even the times when you didn't know I took it in the first place). This also includes the hand me downs. Although I sometimes acted like I hated getting your old clothes, secretly it felt like a mini Christmas for me.
2. Being my protector
I never had to ask you to stick up for me, you just did it. I always knew that if anyone was picking on me or hurt my feelings, all I had to do was turn around and you would be there. From boys to bullies, you had my back. I'll never be able to thank you enough for that.
3. Teaching me
Yeah, mom and dad taught me a lot of the basic stuff like walking and talking, but I've learned a lot of life lessons from you. You taught me to never be afraid to be myself and to stick up for myself when I'm being treated poorly. There's so many things I've learned from you, and I'm pretty sure half the time you didn't even know you were teaching me.
4. Being honest with me
Even when it's brutal and the last thing I want to hear sometimes, I can always count on you to tell me how you really feel. Sometimes I don't want to believe what you have to say, but in the end you've always been right. Whether it's been about a boyfriend or people I hang out with, you could see trouble before I ever did. You saved me a lot of heartbreak and tears because of it.
5. Being my role model
I've looked up to you my whole life, and not just because you're way taller than me. I'm not sure if it's because of your free-spirit attitude or your determination at whatever you set your mind to, but something about you has always captivated me and I think it always will. Thanks for being the best role model a girl could ask for.
6. Making mistakes
As backwards and weird as this may sound, you not being perfect is kind of nice. For one, mom and dad don't expect perfection from me (thanks for taking one for the team). The not-so-selfish part of this is that while you've learned lessons from your mistakes. I have, too. You've always come out of your mistakes as a stronger person and by doing that, you've made me strive to do the same.
7. Dealing with me
Having a little sister can probably be a huge pain in the butt at times, so thanks for not convincing mom and dad to put me up for adoption. No matter how many times I tried to hang out with you and your friends or copy whatever you do, you've always loved me just the same. I know I'm not always the easiest to get along with, but thanks for sticking it out.
8. Supporting me
Aside from mom and dad, you've always been my biggest supporter. You've always not only supported my dreams and goals, but you've encouraged me and helped me achieve a lot of them. I honestly have no idea where I would be if I didn't have your constant love and support.
9. Making me laugh
No matter how mad you make me sometimes, you always know it's all over the second I start laughing. You have a way of turning anyone's bad mood upside down, and you've brought so much happiness and laughter in my life. From all of the times you've made me laugh until I've cried or peed myself, there truly is never a dull moment with you.
10. Being my first and forever best friend

Like I said, we've been friends since day one. You might not have been thrilled when you found out I was going to be born, but let's face it, I grew on you. Growing up, you've always had my back and I knew that I always had a friend to play with. As we continue to grow and get older, I know our bond will never change. You're the Amy Poehler to my Tina Fey, and forever my closest friend. Thanks for being you, sis. There's nobody else I'd rather go through life with!
Love,
Your baby sister
