Between sessions of “Super Mario Bros” on your Nintendo DS and lunches from Kid Cuisine, the old shows that were constantly playing on your television screen have undoubtedly left a permanent mark on your childhood memories. Looking back, these shows were the building blocks of our imagination and inspired us to become creative and interesting adolescents. As we got older, these iconic shows went off the air and unfortunately faded into the background. With that said, these shows need to make a comeback, because watching TV just isn’t as great as it used to be.
1. CatDog
If the hybrid mix of a cat and a dog wasn't intriguing enough, then maybe watching Cat try to restrain Dog as he chased down garbage trucks in the title sequence did.
2. Hey Arnold!
Who could resist a kid with a head shaped like a football? Even you can’t deny that some part of you embodies Helga and her obsessive fangirling.
3. That’s So Raven
Her visions, sassy attitude and incredible style made this show unforgettable. Raven taught us that self-confidence, friendship and perseverance are the most important parts of life.
4. Drake and Josh
“Are you callin’ me a liar?” Well, I ain’t callin’ you a truther if you didn’t love this show.
5. The Rugrats
As Angelica once said, “when life gives you lemons, make applesauce”.
6. Dexter’s Laboratory
It is still undetermined to see if DeeDee ever got out of his lab...
7. Scooby Doo
The Mystery Machine is still my dream car, and if you never wondered what a Scooby Snack tasted like, then you clearly can’t call yourself a meddling kid with a dumb dog.
8. Rocket Power
If Tito’s wisdom and love of life didn’t inspire you to move to California and surf all of your problems away, then nothing ever will.
9. Lizzie McGuire
Lizzie outlined all of adolescence in three years of crazy, yet humorous situations that eventually happened to each one of us. I am still waiting to meet my Paolo in Rome.
10. The Amanda Show
Even though Amanda Bynes has gone a little haywire in recent years, she was still one of the most hilarious people on television. Disguised as a hillbilly, judge and even an obsessed fan, Amanda taught us to always bring in the dancing lobsters.
There’s no doubt that these shows will live on in our memories for as long as possible. There may even be a day when your kids pull out that dusty VHS tape of your favorite childhood show and ask you why you still have it (or what VHS tape even is). Until then, we'll always hope that these shows will end up back on our television screens, because they were all just too good to be true.
