Ohio University Doesn't Hate Kaitlin Bennett's Guns, We Hate Her Bigotry

Kaitlin Bennett, a graduate of Kent State University, is famous for taking a photo with an assault rifle while holding a graduation cap emblazoned with the words "Come and take it." Bennett is well known for going to various college campuses and asking students questions that range from trivia questions to specific political opinions.

Over the past couple of years in which Bennett has been doing so, both youth and adults alike have been aware of disagreements that have been raised between Bennett and students. This makes sense, as college campuses are typically populated by those with left-leaning ideologies.

But students at Ohio University didn't protest — or "riot" — against Kaitlin Bennett because she's a libertarian gun owner, it's because she's a bigot who does what she does to spite people and tries to make everyone who disagrees with her look bad.

On Presidents' Day 2020, Kaitlin Bennett came to Ohio University's campus in Athens, OH to ask trivia pertaining to Presidents' Day. There is no debate that she indeed did begin to ask students some questions about this. But it's clear from videos Bennett herself uploads (and videos that students upload) that she does not travel, sometimes hours, to go to different colleges to play a game of Trivia Crack.

She visits campuses because she wants to rile up students.

Despite being a self-proclaimed libertarian, Bennett is seemingly troubled over contentious areas such as abortions and trans rights. According to the Libertarian Party website, Libertarians "seek a world of liberty: a world in which all individuals are sovereign over their own lives..." If Kaitlin Bennett is a true libertarian, it doesn't make much sense as to why she is so concerned with her belief that women (even if raped) shouldn't have abortions and that those who identify as trans shouldn't be able to use the bathroom that aligns with their gender identity.

The story that Kaitlin Bennett wants people to see is only one side of the story.

While talking about immigration and welfare recipients, Bennett incorrectly stated a fact and then was corrected by an Ohio University student. In a video Liberty Hangout uploaded after Bennett came to OU, it surprisingly obtained a clip of this instance. Starting near 10 minutes, Bennett is heard saying, "They [immigrants] are most likely to be on welfare for their entire lives." To which the student responded, "White people are most likely to be on welfare. If you look at the percentage of people on welfare, it is white people. White people. This notion that black people and people of color are the only people who are on welfare is so wrong. Look it up online, there is a government database for all of this... You can't put this false information out there."

Bennett responds by saying, "I want to point out that no one could hear what she said." Although at this point in the video, it was clear there was very little background noise from the crowd. Bennett had no rebuttal so she pulled something out of thin air to say back.

Ohio University has conservatives on campus, along with many politically charged groups that conservatives can join. College Republicans is an organization for those who identify as a Republican or are right-leaning can be a part of. Student Senate is an organization where anyone can join, no matter their political ideology, and work together to represent all students at Ohio University, Similarly, PSMA (Political Science Majors Organization) is a non-partisan organization for political science majors and minors to prepare for post-college within the political science realm.

The predominant reason as to why Ohio University has been in the news after Bennett's visit whereas colleges she has gone to prior haven't is because things were thrown at her car as she was leaving. Some people think this is OK, whereas others do not. Kaitlin is pushing this narrative that Ohio University students are intolerant and hate people who have differing opinions as them, which isn't true. Ohio University students are tired of seeing this counterfeit libertarian go to colleges to ask "trivia questions" just to perturb people, not actually have a discussion. This was evident in the YouTube video when she was confronted by the student who told her that white people are on welfare the most and Bennett didn't want to continue the discussion after being proven wrong.

Kaitlin Bennett is a phony who affiliates herself with InfoWars, a news outlet so far right on the political spectrum it even makes Republicans cringe.

InfoWars is fueled by fake news and conspiracy theories, owned by Alex Jones, a man who believes chemicals in water are turning the frogs gay.

Despite the controversy as to whether what occurred Presidents' Day 2020 at Ohio University was garnered or not, it will hopefully get people who do support her to see she is not one of the good conservatives. She spites people, only wants to have a discussion when she can turn the narrative on to whomever she is talking, doesn't exhibit true libertarian beliefs, and is self-affiliated with one of the least valid and reliable conservative news outlet.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
