It Wouldn't Be The Holiday's Without People Getting Offended By Something

This year has been the year of offending people, people have gotten offended by so many things this year it's a bit ridiculous. Most of these things have no impact on their lives whatsoever. and then they voice it all over social media, so everyone can see and read what they are feeling.

So people got offended by words, songs, and cartoons this year. Back in November when "Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving" aired, people called it out by saying it was racist. Because in one of the last scenes the only Black friend was sitting by himself in a lawn chair at dinner, and all the other white kids sat together.

This cartoon was made back in 1973' and has not been remade in any way, and people will find anything they can to call out someone or something for being racist even if it's not. This cartoon is not racist in any way, there are two other characters seated alone, Marcey and Linus are both sitting by themselves and they are white.

Plus the creator of the show Charles M. Shultz created and added Franklin in 1968 the year Martian Luthur King Jr. was shot, to fight against people who were racist. And to show his support for civil rights. So do your research before you decide to smear someone's name.

Stop calling out things offensive when they're not, just because you want to make it offensive to get attention. This takes me to the classic holiday song "Baby It's Cold Outside." This song was written in 1944, that is 74 years ago, a time that was much different than ours now.

People are calling this song sexist and that it was about a guy trying to take away the woman's consent and giving her a drink that could have a drug in it. Just because she asks "what's in this drink" Doesn't mean he drugged it, she's asking what kind of drink it is. And she is saying no she needs to go because what would people say, She wants to go to keep her reputation clean.

He wants her to stay to keep her safe because of its bad outside, and that he wants to spend more time with her. People nowadays take some many things so offensively that it has now become a social norm, to point out every little thing because someone else deems it offensive.

People need to get over themselves and stop being so sensitive, there are more offensive things out there, such as certain rap songs that have "bitch", "ho" and "cunt" in the lyrics, I would say those are more offensive than a song made over 70 years ago.

People get their little feelings hurt so easily these days, and now even if you say words like grow a backbone, or stand up for yourself, these can be offensive because it hurts their feelings. We now live in a world where you can't state your own beliefs and values because it will offend someone.

Even the way we raise our kids can be offensive to others, because we say things like, if you try harder then you might win next time. And other parents don't think you should say things like that, and that you should always say that your kid is a winner no matter what, and when they play sports, now everyone gets an award, what the hell is that about.

The world is not a nice place and never will be, not everyone needs a participation award just because they showed up. So instead of bitching and moaning about being offended about a song or a cartoon, do your research and find something that is truly offensive and has the right to be talked about on social media.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
