Hopes and Dreams sometimes don’t go as planned. Hopes is something you are wanting to go for. Dreams are something you strive for. Even if things are going great something bad can always happen. In John Steinbeck’s novel Of Mice and Men makes the world seem like a cruel place where dreams can’t come true.
Lennie, in the beginning, has everything he wants in life planned out. His main goal is to tend to the rabbits. He is hoping one day he can have a bunny farm. Everything changed in the end though. Lennie killed Curley’s wife. George was so fed up with Lennie getting into trouble that he decided to shoot him.
George had a good steady job in the beginning. Lennie messed things up in Weed so they had to run. George took care of Lennie which made it hard for him to accomplish his goals. He always had to keep Lennie out of trouble. In the end, George got fed up with having to always control Lennie so he shot him.
Curley’s wife has always had dreams of being an actress. Her mom wouldn’t let her be an actress. She married Curley and moved away from her mom. She always flirted with other guys. In the end, Lennie was feeling her dress and she screamed and he killed her.
In the novel Of Mice and Men, sometimes you can think a dream will come true but in reality will it really work out that way in the end? Out of Lennie, George, or Curley’s wife, none of their hopes and dreams came true. They always kept their head up no matter what the circumstance. Your dreams will either come true, not come true or go a different path.
