Thank you, Mrs. Talbert.
You looked at a terrified, broken sophomore girl and saw greatness within her.
You looked at pain and saw a chance to love.
You looked at children and saw the images of God.
You looked at me and saw what I couldn't.
You looked at me and saw a heart I didn't know I had.
You encouraged me to be what God created me to be.
You showed me the talents God gave me.
You changed my life.
You showed me love and grace before I knew what they truly were.
You saw greatness within me, believed in me, and loved me. Even when I couldn't see it myself and didn't deserve to be loved.
You were an amazing woman. A wonderful teacher. There are no words for the sorrow I feel at the news of your passing.
But I am encouraged, because your love lives on in me and in all of the other people you touched in your time as a teacher.
I aspire to be as wonderful as you.
I hope to be half the teacher and woman of God you were.
I am sad now, but my soul is hopeful. I'm looking forward to seeing you again.
This is not goodbye. This is thank you, and I love you. Until we meet again.
I'm glad I got to see you this semester. I will hold you in my heart and think of you often.
Thank you, Donna Talbert, the little girl who didn't know her full name until she went to school. Thank you for being who I needed when I needed you. Thank you for encouraging me. Thank you for loving me. Thank you.
I'll miss you. And, me being me, I made you into a Sim, which is truly the highest honor I can bestow upon someone. I cannot wait for my Sim's granddaughter to meet you.
In loving memory of a beautiful woman, wonderful teacher, and amazing child of God. Thank you, LaDonna Talbert. You are loved and will be missed.
