6 Must-See Movies Now In Theaters

With school back in session, our heads are deep in the books. But, if you ever need a little mini-vacation from your desk and pile of homework, there are plenty of fantastic films out in theaters now.

1. Gone Girl

Based on the book by Gillian Flynn, Gone Girl features Ben Affleck, as husband Nick Duane, whose wife Amy has gone missing. The two had a seemingly perfect marriage, but as pressure from the police increases, this begins to seem too good to be true. We must ask if his lies and deceit are innocent, or a cover for the truth that he killed his wife. This thriller will have you on the edge of your seat, unable to look away.

2. The Judge

Robert Downy Jr. plays a successful lawyer who left his small town roots behind for a career in New York. However, when his father, the small town judge played by Robert Duval, is accused of murder he must return home. He looks for the truth and begins to reconnect with his family.

3. Kill The Messenger

Based on a true story, this film follows the writer, Gary Webb, as he attempts to discover the CIA’s connections to the importation of cocaine to the United States. This writer was looking for the truth, but soon discovered that some things are best left alone. A smear campaign began and he found himself fighting for his safety and his honor.

4. The  Maze Runner

Based on the book by James Dashner, The Maze Runner, staring Dylan O’Brien, is the newest sci-fi action movie in theaters. Thomas, the protagonist, wakes up in a maze with other boys with no memory of his past life. However, strange dreams and new discoveries may help Thomas and the boys find the truth and, possibly, a way out.

5. This Is Where I Leave You

This star-studded film, featuring Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Jane Fonda, and more, shows the story of a family come back together for their father’s funeral. The children are forced, by their father’s dying wish, to remain together for one week and deal with family tensions, and with many people from past relationships past. Through it all, they are able to reconnect to themselves and discover something that may have been missing.

6. Let’s Be Cops

New Girl stars, Damon Waynes Jr. and Jake Johnson, team up again to make this hilarious cop movie. But as it turns out, they aren’t real cops. These friends dress up as cops for a costume party, but don’t want to take those costumes off once they realize how cops are treated. The power and popularity goes to their heads and the charade continues. However, when they get into a real investigation, things get messy.

Take a break from that work -- or your usual Netflix queue -- and try out one of these sure-to-be-amazing films.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
