I love the fact that I'm not a girly girl.
Before I get into this article too deep, I want to write a disclaimer saying that I'm not in anyway dissing "girly-girls". I'm simply saying that I'm a little different from the rest and I like it that way.
To start, I don't like wearing dresses. In fact, I hate it. I'd much rather be wearing shorts or a cute pair of ripped jeans. Wearing dresses to me is a foreign concept and I feel super weird about them. Yes, they're cute. However, it's just not for me at all. I feel like when I put on a dress and I look in the mirror, I feel awkward and out of place. I should be in jeans!
Also, high heels? Puh-lease. Nope. Never. I can't even imagine walking in them. Some of them are super pretty I will admit. However, I'm not trying to be uncomfortable with aching feet and a blister the size of the moon after wearing them for one night. I love rocking it in sneakers (more preferably vans), or flip flops when the weather's hotter. Even for my wedding, I already told my boyfriend I'm wearing a pair of white vans under my wedding dress. F uncomfortable stilettos. I'm partying my butt off and I can't do that in high heels, right!?
I can eat like the boys, or eat late at night. I worry about my calories of course, but I'm not going to always get a salad. There's more to life than a salad. Yeah, they're delicious. But so are burgers.
There's a part of me, however, that is a little on the more girly side. I love getting my nails done simply for the fact that naked nails creep me out. I need to have paint on them or I just feel completely off. Weird, I know, but that's just me. I hate actually getting my nails done though. The process is just SO long and boring.
There's a part of me that feels like a lot more girls would love to have more of a chill style instead of having to get so dressed up all the time. Honestly, sometimes you need to just throw on a sweatshirt, some leggings, and sneakers and give yourself the comfort you deserve. You can still look super cute while wearing a more laid back outfit for the day.
I love the fact that I'm more of a low maintenance kinda girl. I love the more chill vibe. I go for comfort, not looks. But the thing that people don't understand about being a non-girly-girl is that we DO care about our looks. We just have a different style and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way.
