Federal Holidays Aren't The Only Fun Days Of The Year

Now that July Fourth is over and we're halfway through July, we have quite some time to wait until the next major holiday. We have to go through the whole month of August "holiday-less" until we get to Labor Day in September, and then all of the other fun holidays the next three months after that.

Although it may seem like there are no holidays in August, there are actually plenty! With National Dinosaur Day on the second, National S'mores Day on the 10th, Women's Equality Day on the 26th, National Beach Day on the 30th, and everything else in between, August has plenty of reasons to celebrate.

Something I never really thought about is that there's something to celebrate every day! After National French Fries Day and National Ice Cream Day just recently passing, I started to wonder what else had it's own holiday. After some research, here are some of my favorites:

July 13 and 17: National French Fries Day and National Ice Cream Day. Man, two of my favorite foods are celebrated within a few days of each other, and I never knew until this year. Fries are just after tater tots on my favorite ways to eat potatoes list (which includes all ways). Also, shoutout to ice cream for not only being the perfect, delicious cool down treat, but also substituting for one of my meals more often than not during the summer time.

August 19: National Chicken Nugget Day Speaking of my favorite foods, I'm disappointed that the best holiday in the world is just two days before I'm reunited with my friends. Two short days that got in the way of celebrating properly.

June 8 and August 7: National Best Friends Day and National Friendship Day It's no secret that I love to make my friends feel appreciated regularly. Sometimes I feel like I do it a little too much, but these two days give me the perfect excuse to go into full sap mode and embrace the overly loving person I truly am.

February 17: Random Acts of Kindness Day I always try to be as kind as possible, and I love doing nice things for people to make them happy. It makes me super happy to hear there's a whole day dedicated to being nice to others. In a world surrounded by so much hate, it's something we need a little more of.

August 26: National Dog Day Personally, I think this is the greatest holiday in the world because it celebrates those that deserve the most celebration. For me, every day is national dog day; I'm always praising and obsessing over dogs. I'm glad there's at least one day out of the year that I'm not the only one and dogs get the recognition they deserve.

These are just some of the fun holidays that exist out there that aren't as popular; there are plenty more. In fact, each and every day brings multiple things to celebrate. Whether you need a reason to enjoy a tasty treat, play a sport, or do absolutely anything else, there's sure to be a holiday in store for you. You can turn any day into a celebration if you try hard enough. Party on, friends.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
