Even though Pensacola is definitely in the South, South Carolina is more southern.
Having to constantly explain where exactly your hometown is, and debating whether or not to say the name of your small town or the nearest city
Clarifying that you are not near Disney World
There is no Whataburger up here
Numerous people do not know what the item in number 4 is
You are potentially the only fan of your favorite Florida sports teams
When said favorite sports team plays a team in the state of your college, and losing is not fun
Days off due to winter weather is not a guarantee
Purchasing thermal underwear and other winter apparel
Finding out what this season called “Fall” is
Florida man and the other weird stuff that goes on in Florida
Becoming instant best friends with a fellow Floridian
Getting overexcited when your state comes up in a conversation
Giving out advice to your fellow students when they come down to Florida to go to the beaches
Conversing with people who have been to your town before, though it was several years ago

Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.

A bad day at the lake is still better than a good day not at the lake.
