Disney's "The Nightmare Before Christmas" has posed a problem from its release. Do you watch it during Halloween or Christmas? Or do you watch it during both? The movie may follow a Halloween-oriented town on a mission to take over Christmas, but here are seven reasons why you could (and should) watch this classic all year.
1. It's holiday inclusive.
Yes the title only highlights two holidays, but the movie includes other appearances like the other holiday doors in the intro and this Easter Bunny scene.
2. The music.
I could listen to Danny Elfman's soundtrack every day just because it's pure gold.
3. The message.
At its core, this movie isn't about Halloween, it's about embracing who you are.
4. The love story.
Jack and Sally? Just think of it as a Halloween/Christmas-themed Valentine's Day movie.
5. The scary stuff.
Look, horror movies are good any time of the year, and Oogie Boogie trying to add Santa to his stew before being reduced to disintegrating insects is pretty dang creepy. Also are his henchmen gathering weapons to seemingly maim and capture Santa? This is supposed to be a children's movie.
6. The art.
Tim Burton put together some perfectly spooky and festive imagery to make a beautiful movie that deserves to be viewed more than just at the end of the year.
7. Zero.
First of all, dogs make everything better. On top of that, Zero is loyal, cute, and one of the only characters who notices Jack's Christmas plan might not be the best idea.
