I love movies. Some of my most found memories growing up and still today are going to the movies with my family and my friends. In today's article I want to talk about one of Disney's newest movies Moana.
A story about a young Polynesian princess saving the world, it is sure to be a favorite for everyone who sees it. For a children's movie, it is a little bit on the longer side, but it is suspenseful at every moment, and does not drag on. Below are a couple reasons as to why I loved this movie.
Soundtrack
Oh my gosh. If you do not go to see the movie, go on YouTube or Spotify and listen to the soundtrack! The songs are laced with Polynesian melody lines and authentic instrumentation and it is sure to have your foot tapping and the songs are so catchy that these amazing lyric lines will dance through your head coming out of the theater. The soundtrack features some powerhouse singers, do yourself a favor and go listen to it.
"The Rock" is in a kid's movie!
I do not know if this is Dwayne Johnson's first kids movie, but he is the perfect fit for it! The Rock has been in movies such as fast and furious and central intelligence, so this movie is quite a change in role for him. Without giving too many spoilers, he plays an extremely muscular man (he is used to that), that was a demigod that made a mistake that ruined the world. He exemplifies this character well in this movie and in my opinion he did an amazing job and I was happy to hear his voice over of his character "maui."
New look for a Disney Princess?
There was a change in this movie for Disney princesses as well. Typically the princesses are white and wear ball gowns and are waiting to be saved by a damsel in distress. However, this "princess" loved the outdoors and wore leah skirts and was not afraid of the ocean. In terms of her skin tone, it was a dark brown with black curly hair and captivating brown eyes. I am not saying that Disney is racist or anything like that, however it was refreshing to see another race represented as a Disney princess,
What did you think of the movie? I would love to hear your responses. If you have not seen it, go see it! It's worth the time and money.
