Climate change has been bringing New York on a weather rollercoaster of emotions the past few months.
The students of New York have been feeling a range of emotions due to the dramatic ups and downs in weather that climate change has been causing.
“The cold weather doesn’t give me motivation to go to the library,” says Marissa, a sophomore at the University at Albany.
“I’m on a motivation rollercoaster with my work. It’s my senior year and I’m almost done, but have trouble getting all my work done quickly because of the different weather patterns,” says Dina, a student at Binghamton University.
Specifically, the month of March, and what looks like April, have been sporadically showing signs of beautiful weather, where students have even been able to wear flip-flops, but then go right back to snow and rain.
The snow and rain have been driving New York students to skip class, ultimately using this bad weather as an excuse.
Julian, another sophomore at UAlbany says, “I’ll be able to sit by the fountain, enjoying the weather one day while doing my work and then stuck in my room with no motivation to do it the next day because it’s snowing.”
April is known as the rainy month, so it is no surprise that we're seeing a lot of showers within the first week. However, it is a surprise that we are still seeing some days of snow.
Since we cannot control the weather, it is up to students to keep their motivation up regardless of what it looks like outside. GPAs do not get graded according to the weather, they get graded according to a student’s effort.
