I cannot even believe the day has come. You are about to begin your freshman year at East Carolina. When you were first deciding on what colleges you were going to apply to, I selfishly wanted you at ECU for so many reasons. The biggest one being that I could continue being the overprotective older sister I have always been. I know this has not always been your favorite trait of mine, but you know that I only do it out of love.

These years fly by so quickly. One moment you are a freshman figuring out where all your classes are, and the next moment you are applying for graduation. Enjoy every single moment and opportunity because these are some of the best years of your life.

There will be plenty of challenging times; difficult test, managing money, relationships, dining hall food, and much more. All the good, bad, and ugly times you will look back years from now and realize that all of them were a part of the journey.

Study hard but don't forget to have fun. Balance is the key; something I am not great at, but it is essential.

East Carolina Football is some of the best times to be had. All the different chants and songs will be something that will stick with you forever and make you smile when they're heard. This stadium bleeds purple and gold. School spirit is something we are known for and it makes this place feel even more like home.

I cannot wait for you to come join me at the best university. This year is going to be so special with you here with me. I will always be a phone call away if you need help and my stove will always be open for you to come and make mac and cheese.

I love you so much and I want you to remember to turn towards the Lord with all things, and he will guide your every step.

Xoxo, Sissy

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
