11 New Albums To Add To Your Playlist This Fall Season
Hope Orr

Fall is the season of artists.

That is the most pretentious thing I've ever said...hold on, let's start over.

Fall is such a pretty season, that it's no wonder so many bands are coming out with new music right now!

That's much better.

Weather the leaves changing is lifting you up, or the cold is bringing you down. Give one of these new songs/albums a listen to get you through this season.

1. Young The Giant

You guys know that song that goes "MY BODY TELLS ME NO!" Yeah? That's this band and they have a lot of other good songs besides that one. If you haven't checked them out yet, I highly suggest Young the Giant overall for the cold seasons. Their new album "Mirror Master" is another incredible thing to get lost in while you walk in the cold or lose your mind in homework. My favorite songs on this album are "Panoramic Girl" and "You + I."

2. You Me At Six

If you're anything like me, then you haven't listened to this band since your emo phase because they weren't actually that great then, but now they are. Their new album "VI" is so much better and full of creative content despite the album title. My favorite songs on this album are "3AM" and "Losing You".

3. Kurt Vile

Imagine something that sounds like alternative, pop and countryish all at once. That is what Kurt Vile sounds like. He is not new at all, but I am just finding him and his new album really is on my radar. I think if you like The Lumineers, you'll also like him. The best song, if you ask me, on his new album is "Hysteria"

4. O.A.R

Remember screeching in the car with your mom to a song that went "how many times can I break til I shatter"? No? Do I sound crazy? Do I sound like a sadgirl? Good. Listen to O.A.R, they have the sound of a 2000's alternative sad band and it's perfect for fall.

5. Hands like Houses

Now, I don't know if this is just me, but I relate more pop-punk bands to my summertime feelings. However, Hands like Houses new album, "Anon", is really something to turn up this fall if maybe you ever feel like jumping around in joy or screaming. My favorite songs include "Monster" and "Half-Hearted"

6. Twenty One Pilots

This may sound a bit shocking, but I actually don't really like Twenty One Pilots at all. I used to, and you can hate me all you want, but once I heard "Heathens" every time I was awake during the day I couldn't listen to any of their songs anymore. Their long awaited new album did, thankfully, remind me what I liked this band in first place before they were cool! Sorry to play that card, but once they were popular, it was hard.

7. A Star Is Born Soundtrack

I'm sure you've seen this all over your social media and I don't need to justify this. If I do, the only thing I have to say is: Bradley Cooper.

8. Eric Church

If you're not a country fan then maybe Eric Church's "Desperate Man" can change your mind. Maybe I have a soft spot for him, but I think it'll be perfect for when it's too cold outside and you're mad about it.

9. Greta Van Fleet

Do you like Led Zeppelin? Wanna listen to Led Zeppelin of this decade. Then look no further. Honestly, I can't recommend enough. This new band is everything you need if you're a slut for some classic rock, but also wanna listen to something new.

10. Two Feet

Winter comes with some sad feelings sometimes. Sad feelings mean slow songs. Two Feet's new album "A 20 Something Fuck" is what you need if you have the winter blues, or maybe you're going through a quarter life crisis. Anyone? No? Okay! Still, check it out.

11. Stand Atlantic

Speaking of feelings! Who doesn't love a punk band with an angry female lead singer to express all your true emotions? "Lose My Cool" really emulates all of my moods and I really think this new band is going somewhere.

October is the best month ever. It's Halloween, there's gonna be dead leaves everywhere and so much new music to go with the aesthetics feelings you may be having.

It's time to rock on, little one.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
