BLACKPINK is a brand new girl group, fresh to the K-pop scene. The group was created by YG Entertainment, the same company as the man who brought you Gangnam Style by Hallyu star Psy.

BLACKPINK is only the second girl group that the company has trained and put together, but they are already taking Korea (and many other countries, for that matter) by a storm. The group is comprised of four members: Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo and Rose. The group has released four singles so far, with the most viewed of which being "Boombayah," towering with over 89 million views to date —a huge number compared to other K-pop artists let alone for a rookie group.

Here's the 101 on who's who in this squad:

Lisa Manoban

Position: Lead rapper, main dancer, sub-vocalist and maknae (youngest)!

Lisa is the youngest member of the group. She was born in Thailand on March 27, 1997. She has been training with YG Entertainment for about five years and finally debuted in 2016. She is fluent in multiple languages, including Thai, Korean and English. Leading up to her debut last year, she featured with other YG artists like B.I and Bobby of iKon. She was even a member of a small group called We Zaa Cool with Bambam of GOT7.

Jennie Kim

Position: Main rapper and sub-vocalist.

Jennie was born in South Korea, but is known for having studied abroad in New Zealand before auditioning for a spot in YG Entertainment. Like the other members of the group, she is also fluent in English alongside the native Korean language. She was born January 16, 1996. She became rapper and vocalist within the group after training for more than five years.

Rosé Park

Position: Main vocalist.

Rosé was born in New Zealand but raised in Melbourne, Australia. She can also speak both English and Korean. She was born February 11, 1997 and is in charge of vocals. She has worked as a YG trainee for over four years leading to her debut. She has appeared in G-Dragon's music video, "Without You," as he is under the same company as BLACKPINK.

Jisoo Kim

Position: Visual (face of the group) and lead vocalist.

Born and raised in South Korea, Jisoo is the fourth member of the group. She was born January 11, 1995, making her the eldest of the four girls. She slays vocals, and she, as with all the other members, is also responsible for dancing intricate choreography. Like the rest of the members, she is able to speak multiple languages.

Released song titles:

Boombayah (August 8, 2016)

Whistle (August 8, 2016)

Playing With Fire (October 31, 2016)

Stay (October 31, 2016)

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
