Being a New England girl myself, moving to Florida for school was quite the adjustment.
Here are 7 things that happened to me when I moved away from New England, that are bound to happen to any New Englander who goes to a southern college:
1. You get homesick every fall
Nothing can beat the New England scenery.
2. You'll miss the hiking trails
In Florida they’re filled with spiders the size of my face, so no thank you.
3. You'll only feel "cold" when you go INSIDE
The weirdest thing about FL is that people live there for the warmth, yet AC is blasted everywhere.
4. You'll get weird looks for not knowing what sweet tea is and or not ordering it.
It’s obvious I’m not a native because I prefer it unsweetened.
5. You come to appreciate, and miss, a good winter.
Winters are so beautiful in Connecticut, but only from inside of my house. Other than the view, Florida winters are just fine for me; 40 degrees is as cold as it ever needs to be, anywhere, and I can still wear my cute sweaters.
6. You have way more fun
There's Disney, beaches, a million fun bars, amusement parks, shopping centers, clubs, etc, so I always have something new to try.
7. You feel more home than ever before
I found my people in Florida.
