Music is practically infinite and yet, oddly enough it seems as if our musical library is so narrow. As loyal fans of what is probably the most evolutionary genre, it's no mystery we're typically some of the most limited listeners. Bands like Queen, Aerosmith and Van Halen just have a way of making all modern-day radio nonsense seem so effortless.

It's their finesse that won our musical hearts over, and made it so hard to share; the skill which earned them the apt title of "Artist," but it's these same high regards that limit our ability to absorb an endless, accessible world of music.

True, the music industry is saturated with mundane melodies but were lucky enough to witness the birth of new talent. Simply put, here are my simple, opinionated reasons your old soul will love these 11 newer, kick-ass gems.

1. The Revivalist

Go listen to "Fade Away" and "Wish I Knew You." This is one of those un-tapped bands that seems to have finally discovered their own potential. With a change in style and tonal subtleties, this band tugs at our soft rockers.

2. Ryan Adams

Stumbling across the rawness of "Come Pick Me Up" was an instant eye-catcher. This song is one to listen to religiously and carries a sad comfort. As a whole, Adams has proved he has the creative chops to fuse old and new-style rock/country to express a beautiful balance.

3.Nothing but Thieves

Yet another England to America success based on its ability to be fresh. The soulful voice of Conor Mason's layed over the nuance of instruments is what ropes in fans with songs like "If I Get High" or "Trip Switch."

4.Catfish and the Bottlemen

The youthful sound interestingly probably contrasts your music library. It's fun, it's angsty. "The Balcony" and "The Ride" are albums to really debut a loyal following on account of their ability produce multiple good tracks.

5. Greta Van Fleet

A group to tickle your inner Zeppelin. This band is the Led Zeppelin incarnate and were interested to see what next songs they'll produce. Their imitation feels true and we hope they graduate in style and originality. A great new rock addition. Listen to "Black Smoke Rising" and tell me different.

6.Highly Suspect

My personal favorite, this band shows grit. Songs like "Lydia," "Bloodfeather," "Little One," and "My Name is Human" are songs to be reckoned. This band Came to make a name for itself and has in such short time.

7. Imagine Dragons

This band doesn't need much explanation, considering its radio-play, but is a fun lighthearted beat to listen to when the hardest of rock just isn't doing it.

8. The Black Keys

The tonality of this band is one that takes you back a few decades and persuades with pure nostalgia. Truly, "El Camino" and "The Brothers" album are a time-travel into better music. Give this feature a listen if you miss your youth — or are looking to get rid of it.

9. Kings of Leon

Undoubtedly, "Only by the Night" is an album composed of only the best songs the band had to offer. Each song is a wonderland expressed in riffs and a cracky voice; A group that only continues to grow and keep successful.

10. Cage the Elephant

One of the best evolving bands of recent. This band seems to always change in a better direction without forgetting the style that gave them fame. Whether it be "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" or newer songs like "Trouble," this new voice for the alternative is hard not to sing along to.

11. Arctic Monkeys

A prime example of beautiful things not lasting forever, this band was relatively short-lived but never failed to captivate. Every album seems to have a way of charm, but "AM" is the fan-favorite. The kind of albums you find a new favorite with every listen. The bands hypnotic talking-styled singing, with the even lovelier riffing is the reason every rebel spirit lends an ear.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
